A 24-year-old man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Thorold early Saturday morning, Niagara Regional Police say.

Officers from the service's 1 District, which covers St. Catharines and Thorold, were called to the intersection of Merrittville Highway and Seburn Road at approximately 2:48 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, according to the Niagara Regional Police Service.

Police say responding officers found a pick-up truck that had collided with a guardrail. The driver, a 24-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The Niagara Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation. Police have not released the driver's name.
