Mississauga is gearing up for its largest civic celebration of the year, with Canada Day festivities at Mississauga Celebration Square set for Wednesday, July 1.
This year's headline act is bbno$ (pronounced "baby no money"), a multi-JUNO award-winning, multi-platinum Canadian artist, according to a City of Mississauga news release. The free, full-day event typically draws more than 50,000 people to the square at 300 City Centre Dr.
What to expect
The celebration will feature live entertainment from Canadian talent on the saugaLIVE stage, more than 25 food trucks and market vendors, interactive soccer-inspired experiences and a fireworks finale to close out the night.
The City said the event showcases Mississauga's diversity, creativity and community spirit, with cultural programming and performances by top Canadian artists.
Canada Day at the square has been made possible in part by a Canadian Heritage grant from the Government of Canada, along with sponsorship support.
Closures and service changes
City offices will be closed on July 1, including Mississauga City Hall, the Ontario Courthouse, the 311 Citizen Contact Centre, Clerks, and all libraries and community centres. Indoor pools will also be closed, while spray pads, the Celebration Square wading pool and outdoor pools will remain open.
For urgent matters outside regular hours, residents can call the City's after-hours dispatch line at 905-615-3000. Emergencies should go to 911.
Road closures and transit
Road closures will be in effect in the downtown core from 6 a.m. on June 30 through 6 a.m. on July 2, with expanded closures on July 1 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The City said details of the affected areas are posted on the event webpage.
Paid on-street and off-street parking will be in effect downtown, in accordance with posted signage and the City's Traffic By-law 555-00. With parking limited, the City is encouraging attendees to carpool, walk, bike or take MiWay.
MiWay will run on a regular Sunday schedule, with added late evening service on Routes 3, 7, 10, 17 and 23. Routes 3, 6 and 26 will be on detour from 4 to 11:30 p.m. because of road closures near Celebration Square.
Accessibility and other details
Accessible mobility device charging stations and an onsite accessible viewing area will be available at the square, and American Sign Language interpretation will be provided during the ceremony.
Residents planning to set off their own fireworks are being directed to the City's website for rules on fireworks use in Mississauga.
Downtown is also hosting additional programming on July 1, including Canada Celebrates FIFA World Cup 2026™ activities. Neighbourhood Canada Day celebrations are also planned in communities across Mississauga, with details available on the City's website.
