The Bolton Brewers delivered the statement win of their season Wednesday night, hammering the league-leading New Lowell Knights 13-2 in a mercy-shortened game at New Lowell Recreation Park.

The loss was the first of the year for the Knights, who had opened the NDBL Senior Division season with thirteen straight victories, the Caledon Citizen reported.

Mike Wallace, Jack Larmer, Ben Sterritt and Brett Chater each hit a home run for Bolton, which trailed 2-0 after the Knights scored twice in the bottom of the second.

The Brewers answered with five runs in the fourth inning and eight more in the fifth to end the game early under the mercy rule.

Sterritt, batting second, went 4-for-4 with four RBI. Leadoff hitter Chater, the reigning league MVP, also drove in four runs. According to the report, the pair form one of the most dangerous top-of-the-order combinations in the senior loop.

Pitching and patience chase the Knights' ace

Brewers starter Carson Burns settled in after the two unearned second-inning runs, finishing with six strikeouts while allowing only two hits and two walks. It was the fifth consecutive quality start by the Bolton pitching staff.

Bolton also chased longtime nemesis Brandon Norrie in the fifth inning, collecting ten hits against the ace of the 2025 league champions. The Brewers then tagged relievers Chris Esson and Shane Duffett for four and three runs respectively in the decisive frame.

Head Coach Mike Wallace, who contributed a two-run home run, told the Caledon Citizen he is still working his way back from a torn bicep.

It's been a struggle for me at the plate after tearing my bicep. It felt good to finally be able to hit and I'm just trying to help out the team. I got a good part of the bat on a fastball and it just made its way over the fence.

Wallace also addressed the breakthrough against Norrie.

He's had a lot of success against us over the last two years, including the playoffs. This time, we got to him. We talked before the game and we didn't want anyone to have to carry the weight alone into the game. We put out the best lineup in Brewers' history.

Upset follows Knights' all-star showcase

The result came as a surprise after the Knights' showing at the 59th annual Senior Division All-Star game at Mansfield Community Park on Sunday, where New Lowell routed a team of all-stars from the league's other eleven clubs 8-2 in a format last used in 1986. Brewers Matteo Stothers and Logan Hart played for the all-star side.

Brewers edge Angels to keep rolling

Bolton kept winning Friday night in Barrie, edging the Angels 2-1 to sweep the season series against a club that features five players with NCAA experience.

Stothers threw a complete-game five-hitter, striking out two and walking one. After yielding a first-inning run, he held Barrie off the board the rest of the way for the team's tenth win of the season.

Both Brewers runs came in the top of the fourth, when Justin Melanan drove in Sterritt to tie the game and then scored the winner on a wild pitch.

Wallace credited Stothers for the complete-game effort.

I can't say enough about Matteo. Every time he takes the ball, he gives us a chance to win. It was fun to watch. He was really locating his curveball in the bottom of the zone. It was setting up his fastball.

Since June 22, Bolton has outscored opponents 48-23 over a six-game stretch that includes two wins over Barrie plus victories over Mansfield, Creemore and New Lowell, with one loss to Midland. The Brewers now sit fourth in the standings at 10-7-1.
