A Brampton family welcomed a baby boy at midnight on Jan. 1, marking Brampton Civic Hospital’s first birth of 2026, according to William Osler Health System.

Parents Jasveer Kaur and Jaswinder Singh Dhaliwal, both of Brampton, welcomed their son weighing 6 pounds, 12.82 ounces. Osler announced the birth on New Year’s Day.

The health system congratulated the parents and their family, and extended its good wishes to other families welcoming babies at the start of the year.

The family also received a gift basket of baby items donated by Osler’s gift shop. The shop is operated by the William Osler Health System Volunteer Association.

Brampton Civic, located at 2100 Bovaird Drive East, is a full-service hospital serving families in Brampton and surrounding communities.

In its announcement, Osler also highlighted plans for health services in Brampton and the region. Those include transforming Peel Memorial into a new hospital and expanding regional cancer care services.

The health system is also the primary clinical partner for Toronto Metropolitan University’s new School of Medicine in Brampton.
