A 32-year-old Brampton man is facing charges after an early-morning stabbing at a commercial unit in Mississauga left another man with multiple stab wounds.

Peel Regional Police said officers were called to the area of Dixie Road and Aimco Boulevard at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Friday, August 1, after reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was rushed to a local trauma centre in serious but stable condition, according to police.

Police said the man is expected to recover from his injuries.

Arrest and charges

Investigators with the 12 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau took over the case. Their work led to an arrest the following day.

On August 2, police arrested Gregory Darling, a 32-year-old man from Brampton. He was charged in connection with the stabbing.

Darling was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Appeal for information

The investigation remains open. Peel Regional Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The stabbing occurred in a commercial area near the intersection of Dixie Road and Aimco Boulevard, in northeast Mississauga. The incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning, when the area is typically quiet.

Police have not released further details about what led to the altercation, including any possible relationship between the accused and the victim or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No further court dates have been made public. Darling remains charged in connection with the incident.
