The Town of Caledon has appointed Susie Spry as its new Director of Municipal Law Enforcement, effective June 8, 2026, according to a Town of Caledon news release issued June 1.

Spry brings more than 29 years of municipal law enforcement experience to the position, including progressively senior leadership roles with the Town of Halton Hills and the City of Mississauga.

Most recently, Spry served as Manager of Enforcement Services at the Town of Halton Hills. There, she provided strategic leadership for by-law enforcement, canine control, parking enforcement and administrative operations, while overseeing staff, budgets and policy development.

A career built on complex enforcement files

Over her career, Spry has led complex enforcement initiatives, strengthened operational effectiveness and supported high-performing teams, the release said.

Her experience also includes administering Administrative Monetary Penalty Systems (AMPS), managing enforcement-related court proceedings, responding to Council inquiries and working collaboratively with police and community partners to enhance public safety and regulatory compliance.

Spry holds a diploma in Law and Security Administration from Sheridan College and has completed Justice Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. She also holds professional certifications as a Certified Municipal Law Enforcement Officer and in property standards.

Susie is a collaborative and solutions-focused leader with a strong track record in municipal law enforcement. Her extensive experience, commitment to public service and ability to navigate complex and sensitive issues will be a strong asset to the Town as we continue to support safe and compliant communities.

Those words came from Judith D'Souza Soares, Commissioner of Community Services for the Town of Caledon, in the announcement.

What the role means for residents

The director post oversees the department responsible for enforcing local by-laws, parking rules and animal control across Caledon — services residents encounter through complaints, tickets and enforcement calls in their neighbourhoods.

Spry arrives as the town of roughly 80,000 residents and 4,000 businesses continues to grow rapidly. Caledon is preparing to become a city of 300,000 residents and 125,000 jobs by 2051, a pace of growth that typically places added demands on by-law and enforcement services.

I am excited to join the Town of Caledon and work alongside Council and staff to support effective, fair and consistent law enforcement services. I look forward to contributing to a strong culture of service, accountability and community safety.

Spry said in the release.

She begins her new role one week from the announcement date. Residents with questions can contact the Town's communications office at 905-584-2272.
