Caledon OPP have charged two people after an investigation into a drug trafficking operation that used a dark web marketplace to mail large volumes of drugs to addresses across Canada.
The case was led by the Caledon Detachment Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), working with the OPP's Covert Internet Intelligence Unit. The intelligence-led investigation began in the summer of 2026 and targeted an operation shipping a high volume of drugs, according to a Caledon OPP media release.
On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Caledon CSCU officers arrested an individual at a Canada Post location in Mississauga. Police seized two packages containing various drugs that were prepared to be shipped to addresses across the country.
The investigation also involved search warrants executed at several residences and vehicles across the Greater Toronto Area. Caledon CSCU was assisted by street crime units from the Dufferin, City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, Orillia and Peterborough OPP detachments.
As a result, a 33-year-old from Mississauga was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. That accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
A 34-year-old from North York was also charged and is scheduled to appear at the same Brampton courthouse on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
Police did not release the names of the accused or specify the exact charges in the release.
OPP are asking anyone with information about the possession, manufacturing or trafficking of illicit drugs to come forward. Tips can be made to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or to Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at www.peelcrimestoppers.ca.
The investigation highlights the role of Caledon's local street crime unit in cases that reach beyond the town's borders, with arrests and seizures stretching from Mississauga to communities north and east of the GTA.
