Caledon attracted a record $316 million in commercial and industrial investment last year, according to the Town of Caledon, which released its 2025 Economic Development Annual Report on June 3.
The report points to continued expansion in several key sectors, including logistics, agri-food, tourism and advanced manufacturing, and lays out a long-term vision for growth in the community.
The Town credits the results to a mix of global investment attraction, local entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives. A centrepiece of that effort is the Humber River Centre, developed in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University's DMZ, which gives local founders access to mentorship, programming and growth opportunities as Caledon builds out its entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Tourism also played a growing role in the local economy. The report highlights major events, including the RBC Canadian Open, as generating significant economic activity and raising Caledon's profile nationally and internationally.
"This report reflects the strong momentum we are seeing across Caledon's economy. It reinforces our position as an investment-ready community driven by innovation, strong partnerships, and sustainable growth."
That statement comes from Eric Lucic, Commissioner of Planning and Development and Chief Planner for the Town of Caledon.
The annual report also serves an external purpose: promoting Caledon's value proposition to investors and cementing its standing as one of the fastest-growing and most competitive municipalities in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area.
For local context, Caledon is currently home to close to 80,000 residents and roughly 4,000 businesses. Those numbers are set to change dramatically in the decades ahead, as the Town prepares to grow into a city of 300,000 residents and 125,000 jobs by 2051.
The Town's current strategic plan lists environmental leadership, community vitality and livability, enhanced transportation and mobility, and service excellence and accountability as its core priorities.
