Toronto soccer fans will have a chance to welcome Canada's men's national team back from its World Cup run when it hosts Chile at BMO Field on Sept. 26.
The Toronto friendly is the first of two home matches announced Wednesday by Canada Soccer, according to a Canadian Press report published by Yahoo Sports. Canada will also face Peru at Montreal's Stade Saputo on Oct. 3.
The fall matches follow Canada's advance to the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, a campaign that included the team's first point in the tournament and its first victory in a World Cup knockout match.
For Toronto, the Chile match will bring the Canadians back to the ground where they opened that campaign with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina on June 9. That result at BMO Field secured Canada's first-ever World Cup point.
Canada then played its remaining Group B matches at Vancouver's BC Place, beating Qatar 6-0 before losing 2-1 to Switzerland. The Canadians finished second in the group and advanced to the knockout stage.
A 1-0 victory over South Africa in the round of 32 in Los Angeles gave Canada its first World Cup knockout win. The team's tournament ended with a 3-0 loss to Morocco in Houston in the round of 16.
Head coach Jesse Marsch described the upcoming home matches as an opportunity to recognize supporters and build on the team's World Cup performance.
"The momentum we've created for this sport in the country over the past few months has been incredible," Marsch said in a statement quoted in the Canadian Press report.
"We couldn't have done it without our fans, and these matches are a chance to say thank you and continue to build on what we achieved at the World Cup. We hope to see Canadians celebrate this team with a hero's welcome and show up in numbers this fall."
Both fall opponents are familiar to Canada from the 2024 Copa America. The Canadians faced Peru and Chile in that tournament's group stage, earning a 1-0 win over Peru and playing Chile to a scoreless draw.
