Work gets underway this week on a new parking lot to serve the Wasaga Stars Arena and the Wasaga Beach Public Library.

According to a Town of Wasaga Beach notice, JB Enterprises will carry out tree clearing and earthworks to prepare the site for the parking lot construction, which will support the expansion of the arena and library parking. The work is scheduled to start Oct. 15, weather permitting.

The town says it will handle contract administration and construction inspection for the project.

What residents can expect

Residents living or travelling near the site should anticipate construction noise, equipment activity and truck traffic during permitted working hours, the notice states.

The town has not indicated how long the tree clearing and earthworks phase is expected to take, or when the parking lot itself will be built.

Questions or concerns about the work can be directed to Mike Pincivero, the town's manager of engineering services, at mike.pincivero@wasagabeach.com.

The Wasaga Stars Arena, home of the junior C Wasaga Beach Stars, and the library sit at the heart of the town's recreational campus, and the additional parking is intended to ease demand at the busy shared lot.
