Simcoe County residents who want a hand in local decision-making can now apply to serve as citizen appointees on County of Simcoe committees and boards.

The county announced Monday that it is seeking residents willing to fill the volunteer positions, which carry four-year terms beginning in 2027 and align with the term of Council.

What the roles involve

Meetings are generally held during regular business hours, either in person or electronically, according to the county. Citizen appointees are compensated in accordance with approved County policy.

The county noted that mandates for committees and boards may be updated as required during the term of Council.

Anyone applying must live within the County of Simcoe. For the Accessibility Advisory Committee, preference will be given to applicants with firsthand experience of accessibility challenges.

How to apply

Interested residents are asked to submit a resume and cover letter outlining their experience, preferred committee or board, and relevant qualifications to the County Clerk by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026.

Applications can be sent to the County Clerk's Office by email at clerks@simcoe.ca or by mail to 1110 Highway 26 in Midhurst. The office can also be reached by phone at 705-726-9300, extension 1246.

The county says relevant experience in a committee's subject area would be considered an asset.

The county describes itself and its local municipalities as committed to an inclusive, barrier-free environment, and says accommodation is available at every step of the recruitment process. Applicants who need accommodations are encouraged to advise the county so they can participate fully.

The county thanks all applicants, but notes that only those who may be interviewed or selected will be contacted.
