The Chinese Professionals Association of Canada is bringing its annual gala back to Markham next month, with the evening set for Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre.
The association, known as CPAC, announced the event this week. It describes the gala as an evening of connection and celebration for community leaders, professionals and entrepreneurs.
What the evening includes
The program includes a formal dinner, live entertainment, guest speakers and an auction. CPAC will also present awards recognizing professional achievement, along with awards for outstanding young achievers who have made an impact in their communities.
Proceeds will go to the association's advocacy work, which it says focuses on combating anti-Asian racism and promoting equity and inclusion in education, leadership and society.
The gala turns celebration into action—bringing together community leaders and allies to raise funds, elevate role models, and advance research-based advocacy that creates real change. It reminds our community that our stories matter, our contributions matter, and together we can turn challenges into progress.
— Andi Shi, executive director, Chinese Professionals Association of Canada
A Markham venue
Markham has one of the largest Chinese Canadian communities in the country, and holding the gala at a hotel in the city keeps the fundraiser close to many of the people it aims to reach.
The date falls about two weeks after Lunar New Year, which is on Feb. 17 this year.
Tickets
Ticket information is posted on the association's website at cpac-canada.ca/gala. The announcement did not list ticket prices, speakers or award recipients.
