Drivers and residents in Thorold should prepare for continued disruption on Crompton Boulevard and Bolton Avenue, as the City of Thorold says temporary road closures will continue throughout the remainder of the ongoing construction project.
According to a City of Thorold public notice, the closures will affect two stretches: Crompton Boulevard from Richmond Street to the south end of Crompton Boulevard, and Bolton Avenue from Crompton Boulevard to Queen Street.
Closures will alternate depending on contractor's location
The city says closures will alternate between the two streets depending on where the contractor is working, meaning either Crompton Boulevard or Bolton Avenue may be closed to through traffic at various times until the project wraps up.
Local access will be maintained for residents wherever possible, the notice states. However, short-term driveway restrictions may occur when construction is taking place directly in front of a property.
Residents are being asked to follow all posted construction and traffic control signs. The city says emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Other closures in the area
The notice also points to other road work affecting travel in Thorold. Sullivan Avenue from Towpath Street to Front Street was temporarily closed on Friday, October 2, and will remain closed for approximately three weeks.
In addition, Allanburg Bridge 11 will be closed from October 13 to November 11.
