Gihana Galindo has been named director of the Cuba Tourist Board in Toronto, the organization that promotes travel to the island to the Canadian market.

The appointment took effect Oct. 15, 2025, according to Travel Market Report. Galindo succeeds Lessner Gomez, who led the organization in Canada for six years.

Canada is a key source of visitors for Cuba, and the Toronto office works closely with tour operators, travel advisors and other industry partners across the country to keep Canadians choosing the island as a vacation destination.

The Ministry of Tourism of Cuba and the Cuba Tourist Board thanked Gomez for his leadership and his work strengthening Cuba's presence in the Canadian travel market.

It has been an incredible honour to represent Cuba in Canada. I am grateful for the strong partnerships and friendships built over the years with our Canadian travel partners. I have every confidence that Ms. Galindo will continue to grow these relationships and bring fresh energy to our ongoing efforts.

Gomez shared the remarks in a statement marking the transition.

Galindo arrives with direct experience in the Canadian market. For the past three years, she served as commercial director at the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, where she led international initiatives promoting the island as a travel destination and worked closely with Canadian tour operators.

I'm excited to continue building strong partnerships with our valued travel industry colleagues in Canada. Together, we will tackle new challenges, seize exciting opportunities, and work to increase the number of Canadians choosing Cuba as their travel destination.

Galindo made the comments in a statement issued with the announcement.

For Toronto's travel trade community, the change at the top signals continuity rather than a reset. Galindo's existing relationships with Canadian tour operators mean the industry partners she will work with from the Toronto office are already familiar ones.
