Pickering residents who use Durham Region programs and services should prepare for Victoria Day impacts on May 18, while regional outreach will remain available to people experiencing homelessness.
According to a Region of Durham service notice, regional programs and services will be affected in observance of the holiday. The notice also outlines ways to reach homelessness support and access certain court and prosecution services during the closure.
Homelessness support remains available
Durham Region Outreach will continue to provide support for people experiencing homelessness over the holiday. Residents seeking help can email HomelessHelp@durham.ca.
Telephone support is available at 905-668-4113, extension 5510, or by calling 311 within Durham Region and using extension 5510. The toll-free number is 1-800-372-1101, extension 5510.
Court and prosecution service options
For Provincial Offences Court Services, members of the public can make payments online or use the 24-hour drop box at the south entrance of Regional Headquarters.
Regional Headquarters is at 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby. The drop box provides an option for residents who need to submit a payment during the holiday closure.
Information about filing electronic documents is available by emailing poa.courts@durham.ca or visiting durham.ca/CourtServices. The region cautions that these services will not be monitored during the closure.
For Prosecution Services, online options allow the public to request disclosure and schedule a pre-trial meeting for Part III offences. Those services can be accessed at durham.ca/ProsecutionServices.
Residents looking for regional service-disruption updates, both for the holiday and throughout the year, can visit durham.ca/ServiceDisruptions.
