Food Banks Mississauga's annual holiday drive wraps up on Friday, Jan. 9, leaving residents a few more days to donate food or money as the holiday season gives way to the leaner weeks of winter.
The 2025 Holiday Drive opened on Nov. 12 to provide healthy and appropriate food to people facing food insecurity, the City of Mississauga said in a December news release urging residents to give. Donors can contribute either funds or food items.
For every dollar you give, the food bank is able to distribute healthy food for one meal.

In the same release, the city noted that the holidays can be a hard time for some households because of rising living costs, including housing and the price of essentials such as food and clothing.
A citywide network
Food Banks Mississauga, based at 4544 Eastgate Pkwy., leads a network of more than 60 member agencies, including neighbourhood food banks, pantries, cupboards and meal and snack programs. Together they provide almost six million meals a year to Mississauga residents facing food insecurity, according to the organization's listing with the Mississauga Halton Healthline.

Help older neighbours clear snow from driveways and sidewalks, one of several winter good deeds the city suggested.
