Drivers and pedestrians in Pickering will face a temporary closure of Glenanna Road and its west sidewalk from Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Monday, Oct. 26, according to a City of Pickering notice.

The affected section extends from Pickering Parkway to the south limit of The Esplanade South. The closure is intended to allow installation of the Region of Durham’s sanitary sewer and watermain.

The city says detours have been provided for both vehicle traffic and pedestrians, and that all applicable signage will be posted. The notice identifies the west sidewalk as the pedestrian area affected by the closure.

The notice does not describe the detour routes in its text, but includes a location map for the work area. It lists Oct. 26 as the end of the closure period without specifying a reopening time.

Residents seeking more information about the closure can contact Ajay Gnanaraj, an inspector in the city’s Development Services Engineering Services Department, at 905-420-4660, ext. 2077, or agnanaraj@pickering.ca.

The city also lists Joe Mitschang, a supervisor in the same department, as a contact. He can be reached at 905-420-4660, ext. 2030, or jmitschang@pickering.ca.
