An online auction of original artwork by the late Grimsby artist Gordon Rose is now open, with proceeds going to the Grimsby Public Art Gallery.
The Gordon Rose Memorial Art Auction was organized by Gordon Rose's son, Phil Rose, and features a special collection of the artist's original pieces, according to the Town of Grimsby.
The works on offer span several media, including watercolour, pastel, acrylic, scratchboard and photography. Many of the pieces reflect Rose's love of nature, animals and the world around him, the Town said.
A lasting local legacy
Rose was a longtime Grimsby resident and community volunteer who served as past president of the Grimsby Lakeside Pump House Artists. The Town said he left a lasting legacy through both his community service and his art.
"Thank you to Phil Rose for generously organizing this meaningful fundraiser and sharing his father's artwork with the community," the Town of Grimsby said in its announcement.
How to bid
Bidding is open now and runs until Friday, November 6, 2026, at 5 p.m. The full collection can be viewed and bids placed through the auction platform hosted at app.galabid.com/grimsby-art-gallery/items.
The auction is being run online, meaning Niagara-area residents can participate from home. Each purchase supports the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, which has been the beneficiary of the memorial fundraiser.
For Grimsby art lovers, the auction also offers a chance to own a piece by a well-known local figure whose work drew heavily on the natural surroundings of the Niagara area.
