The Niagara Gateway Tourism Information Centre in Grimsby is celebrating its 25th anniversary this fall, marking a quarter century of guiding travellers into the Niagara Region.
The Centre opened its doors in September 2001, according to a Town of Grimsby news release, and has since welcomed and assisted millions of visitors with tourism information, recommendations and an introduction to the attractions, businesses and experiences found across Niagara.
Informally known as the "first stop to the Niagara Region," the Centre has become a key gateway for visitors arriving in the area and a partner in promoting Grimsby as a destination to visit and explore.
The organization operates as a not-for-profit, supported by dedicated local volunteers, community partners and supporters. Over its 25-year history, it has continued to evolve, and its commitment to promoting Niagara tourism has earned it more than a dozen Marketing Awards of Excellence, the Town said.
The Town of Grimsby highlighted its longstanding partnership with the Centre, crediting it with supporting tourism, connecting visitors with local businesses and attractions, and showcasing what Grimsby and the wider region have to offer.
A milestone amid a busy fall in Grimsby
The anniversary comes as the Town prepares for the 2026 municipal election. Voter Information Letters have been mailed out, and residents who have not received theirs by Thursday, October 1 were asked to contact the Town at 905-945-9634 ext. 2003.
Online voting opened Monday, October 5 at 12 p.m. for all voters who received a Voter Information Letter. Advance polls are scheduled for Wednesday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Major Refrigeration Peach King Centre.
Election day is Monday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with residents directed to vote at their designated poll location based on the ward their property is located in. Full details are available on the Town's election page.
The Town congratulated the Niagara Gateway Tourism Information Centre — its staff, volunteers, partners and supporters — on 25 years of welcoming visitors, and said it looks forward to continuing the partnership for many years to come.
