A Hamilton man has been charged following a fatal hit-and-run at Winston Churchill Boulevard and Dundas Street in Mississauga, and investigators are asking for dashcam footage and help finding a potential witness.
Peel Regional Police said a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The vehicle left the scene.
The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, died of his injuries at the scene, according to police.
Investigators with the Major Collision Bureau arrested 69-year-old Aubrey Lawrence of Hamilton on Wednesday, Sept. 30. He was charged with failing to remain at an accident resulting in death.
Police said investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a dark, two-toned Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck from model years 1999 to 2005. The truck was located and seized.
Investigators believe the accused interacted with another motorist in the parking lot of a nearby Home Depot shortly after the collision. They want to speak with that motorist, who may have information that could help the investigation.
The appeal also extends to anyone with dashcam footage showing the collision or the surrounding area, as well as anyone with other information about the incident.
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact the Major Collision Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
