Peel Regional Police have charged a 20-year-old Woodstock man with stunt driving in Mississauga while he awaits trial in connection with a fatal 2024 collision in Brampton.

The charge stems from an incident in the early morning of May 23, 2026, when officers saw a vehicle travelling well above the posted speed limit near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Argentia Road, according to Peel Regional Police.

Officers pulled the driver over without incident shortly after 1 a.m. The investigation that followed resulted in stunt driving charges under the Highway Traffic Act against Mitchel Hunter.

Along with the charges, Hunter received an immediate 30-day suspension of his driver's licence, and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Hunter is no stranger to the courts in connection with Peel road incidents. Police say he was previously arrested and charged with Criminal Code offences after a fatal collision on Nov. 24, 2024, in the Steeles Avenue and Finch Avenue area of Brampton. That case has not yet gone to trial.

The latest charge was laid by the force's Safer Roads Team, which targets dangerous driving across Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon.

Police are asking residents to help keep local roads safe by reporting dangerous driving when they see it. Tips can be made to Road Safety Services at 905-453-3311, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Residents can also file a report through the force's online Road Watch system, and police say photo or video evidence of dangerous driving can be submitted through the service's evidence submission portal.
