The Markham Food Bank is receiving $30,000 from the Markham Pickleball Club’s annual charity fundraiser, supporting an organization that helps 2,500 people experiencing food insecurity.

Markham Review reported that hundreds of people attended the club’s two-day Pickleball for Possibilities Charity Event, which combined friendly games with a raffle and silent auction.

The total exceeded the club’s $28,000 donation last year by $2,000. The annual initiative brings residents together to play pickleball while raising money for the local food bank.

Stephen Law, president of the Markham Food Bank, told Markham Review the club has provided donations for the past three years. He praised its fundraising efforts and described the contribution as an important source of support.

“We have 2,500 individuals that we support at the Markham Food Bank with food insecurity, and this is a great support for us”, Law told Markham Review.

This year’s event offered several ways to contribute, with the raffle and silent auction running alongside the friendly pickleball games. The weekend drew hundreds of participants through their shared interest in the sport.
