Families hoping to land spots in Markham’s spring swim lessons and summer camps now have dates to mark on the calendar. The city has set its registration schedule for the season, along with a limited-time offer on fitness memberships, the Markham Review reported on Friday, Jan. 9.
Key dates
Feb. 1: Spring programs, including swim lessons, and summer camps are posted for preview.
Feb. 10, 6:30 a.m.: Summer camp registration opens for Markham residents.
Feb. 24, 6:30 a.m.: Registration opens for general programs and swim lessons.
Non-residents can register one day after residents: Feb. 11 for summer camps and Feb. 25 for general programs and swim lessons.
The Feb. 1 preview gives families a few weeks to compare programs, times and locations before registration opens, and to make sure their online recreation account is ready before the 6:30 a.m. start. Details are posted at markham.ca/recreation.
Three months for the price of two
Until Feb. 14, the city is selling three-month fitness memberships for the price of two months, which works out to $138, taxes included. Discounts are available for youth, older adults and students.
The offer applies at the Aaniin, Centennial, Cornell, Markham Pan Am and Thornhill fitness centres. Membership covers drop-in and full-season group fitness classes, along with aquafit, skating, swimming, pickleball, badminton, basketball, table tennis and volleyball. More information is at markham.ca/fitness.
