The Town of Midland has completed its purchase of the property municipally known as 830 Yonge Street, a site officials say could play a role in the town's long-term infrastructure plans — including a possible new fire hall.
The acquisition closed on September 30, 2026. In a news release posted to its website, the town said the property was purchased because of its strategic location and its potential value in supporting future municipal infrastructure and service delivery needs.
Training exercises possible this fall
The site may be used for emergency services training exercises this fall, the Town of Midland said. If training activities go ahead, the town will provide advance notice through midland.ca/news and post signage on the property.
Fire hall under consideration
According to the town, construction of a new fire hall has already been identified within the municipality's long-term capital planning, and the Yonge Street property is part of ongoing planning discussions about where that facility could go.
No final decisions have been made about the site's ultimate use or development, the town emphasized. Additional information about potential future uses is expected to come before council as part of the 2027 budget process in December 2026.
Budget details will be posted online at midland.ca/budget as they become available, the town said. For now, the property's future remains open, with the fire hall idea among the options on the table.
Residents with questions can follow updates through the town's website as planning moves ahead over the coming months.
