Midland residents are being encouraged to celebrate their local library next week.
Mayor Bill Gordon has proclaimed Oct. 18–24, 2026 as Ontario Public Library Week in the Town of Midland, according to a post on the Town of Midland website.
The proclamation notes that the province recognizes Ontario public libraries each year in October, and that public libraries help build strong communities and lifelong learners.
It also credits the Midland Public Library with providing residents with opportunities for engagement, inspiration and empowerment.
In the proclamation, Gordon said he wants all residents to "recognize and celebrate our Library and its ongoing contributions to the success and vitality of our community."
Ontario Public Library Week is an annual recognition of the role libraries play across the province. Midland's proclamation aligns the town with the province-wide observance taking place the same week.
The Midland Public Library serves as a community hub in the heart of town, and the proclamation highlights its ongoing contributions to local life.
