The Town of Midland is inviting business owners, community organizations and tourism enthusiasts to its first-ever Tourism Day Conference on Tuesday, November 3.

The one-day event, presented in partnership with Tourism Simcoe County, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Midland Cultural Centre. Tickets are $30 including HST and are available at midland.ca/TourismDay, according to a Town of Midland announcement.

Registration closes October 28, and organizers say the conference will likely sell out quickly. Attendance is capped at 100 participants.

The ticket price covers full-day access to the conference, lunch and refreshments, expert presentations and networking opportunities with industry professionals and business leaders.

The conference grew out of Midland's new five-year Tourism Strategy, which was presented to Council earlier this year. It also follows the town's recent Community Tourism Survey, which showed strong resident support for expanding and improving local tourism.

What's on the program

Kevin Eshkawkogan, President and CEO of Indigenous Tourism Ontario, will deliver the keynote presentation. Elder Trish Monague will open and close the event.

The schedule also includes expert-led sessions on visitor insights, film tourism, experience development and destination marketing. Confirmed presenters include Bryan Plumstead of BP Insights, Tom Strnad of Mountain Goat Film Company Inc., Kim Clarke of Regional Tourism Organization 7, and Chris Hughes of BC Hughes.

Tourism plays a vital role in Midland's economy, supporting local businesses, creating jobs, and contributing to the vibrancy of our community. The Midland Tourism Day Conference brings together industry professionals, business owners, community partners, and other tourism enthusiasts to share ideas, build connections, and explore new opportunities to strengthen tourism across our region.

Mayor Bill Gordon shared those comments in the town's announcement.

The town says the conference is designed to offer attendees industry insights, professional development opportunities and meaningful connections with other tourism professionals across the region.
