A stretch of the Midland Rotary Waterfront Trail will remain closed for maintenance for at least several more days, and the work could keep the popular waterfront route off-limits until Oct. 21.
The affected section runs between Vas Kuchar Memorial Parkette and 711 Aberdeen Boulevard, the Town of Midland said in a notice posted to its website.
The town says the closure is in effect until further notice, and advises that it may continue through Oct. 21. No reopening date is guaranteed before then.
Cyclists and pedestrians are being directed around the closed stretch by detour signage along Aberdeen Boulevard.
The town says its trails page, at midland.ca/trails, will be updated once the maintenance work is finished and the trail reopens.
Midland's Rotary Waterfront Trail is one of the community's most-used recreational paths, running along the shores of Georgian Bay, and the closure affects one of its central sections near the downtown waterfront.
Trail users planning walks or rides along the water this week should budget extra time for the Aberdeen Boulevard detour, or plan to turn around at Vas Kuchar Memorial Parkette.
