The Mississauga Chargers will play five preseason games this month as the junior hockey club prepares for the 2026–27 Ontario Junior Hockey League season, according to a schedule posted on the Chargers' official website.

The exhibition slate opens Wednesday, Aug. 19, when the Chargers host the North York Rangers at 6:30 p.m. at Herb Carnegie Arena.

Mississauga then heads to the Gale Centre for a doubleheader on Friday, Aug. 21, meeting the Buffalo Jr. Sabres at 1:30 p.m. before facing the Niagara Falls Canucks at 7:30 p.m. The Chargers get a rematch with the Jr. Sabres the following day, Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2:30 p.m., also at the Gale Centre.

Preseason wraps up Aug. 29 in Oakville

The preseason schedule closes Saturday, Aug. 29, with a 7 p.m. game against the Oakville Blades at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.

The five games give fans their first chance to see the 2026–27 Chargers roster in action ahead of opening night. The club says returning veterans, newcomers and prospects will all be battling for spots and looking to make an impression before the regular season begins.

For a junior A program, the preseason doubles as an extended tryout. Players on the bubble have roughly two weeks of game action to prove they belong, while coaching staffs evaluate line combinations, special teams and depth before the games start counting in the standings.

The Chargers finished announcing the slate as preparations for the new campaign get underway, with the team pointing fans to its website and social media channels for upcoming roster announcements, ticket information and the official regular-season schedule.

The OJHL regular season typically begins in early September, meaning the Aug. 29 date with the Oakville Blades will serve as the Chargers' final tune-up before the results start mattering.

Local hockey fans looking for an early look at junior action in Mississauga will want to circle Aug. 19 on the calendar, the only one of the five exhibition dates that has the Chargers opening their preseason on familiar ice.
