Mississauga businesses preparing to expand have until November 30, 2026, to apply for a six-month program offering executive training, mentorship and access to investors, according to a City of Mississauga news release.
The Step-Up Program is operated by IDEA Mississauga, the city’s business innovation hub. It is intended for companies that have already established a foothold in their markets and are preparing for further growth.
The city announced the application opportunity on October 2. The program targets businesses in life sciences, advanced manufacturing and technology, including artificial intelligence, clean technology and defence technology.
Support for businesses preparing to expand
Participants will join a group of founders and work with experienced executives, industry specialists and investors. The program combines practical support, learning alongside other entrepreneurs and advice tailored to individual businesses.
According to the city, the support is aimed at challenges that can emerge as a business grows, including securing financing, entering additional markets, hiring staff and improving operations.
The city says the program is intended to help founders develop growth strategies, build investor relationships and establish plans for expanding their businesses. Its stated focus also includes sustainability and inclusivity, supporting companies seeking to make both an economic and a social contribution.
