MiWay riders will see a round of service changes starting Monday, Sept. 7, including more frequent buses on one of the city's express routes and a new school route serving Streetsville Secondary School, according to a City of Mississauga announcement.

Route 110 University Express will run more often between City Centre Transit Terminal and Clarkson GO Station to meet customer demand. As part of that change, Route 110A University Express will be discontinued, with its service merged into Route 110.

MiWay said it monitors ridership patterns on an ongoing basis and adjusts service levels to match how customers actually use the network, so transit resources are directed to the routes with the greatest demand.

More trips, and some reductions

The city says additional weekday trips will be added on several routes, though the announcement did not name them. Weekend service is also increasing, with Sunday frequencies on two routes improving to every 20 minutes — one from headways of up to 34 minutes, the other from up to 28 minutes.

At the same time, some routes will see reduced service because of lower ridership. The city said those savings are reallocated to busier routes rather than removed from the system.

School service returns

With the new school year underway, regular post-secondary and secondary school service will resume. A new secondary school route will operate between Meadowvale Village and Streetsville Secondary School.

Extra school trips on regular routes will also be reinstated to add capacity around school start and dismissal times. Some of those trips will get new or adjusted weekday times to match updated school bell times.

Terminal upgrades and next changes

Platform changes are coming to South Common Centre Bus Terminal, which the city said are aimed at improving safety, the customer experience and transit operations.

Schedule adjustments will also be made on a number of routes to improve connections, reliability and operational efficiency as traffic and ridership patterns shift across the city.

Riders should also mark their calendars for Thanksgiving, when buses will run on a regular Sunday schedule. MiWay advises checking holiday customer service hours before travelling.

The next planned service change is scheduled for Oct. 26, 2026. The city said further schedule adjustments will be made as needed to keep service responsive to customer needs.
