A 21-year-old man is in serious but stable condition at a Toronto-area trauma centre after a single-vehicle crash in Pickering on Wednesday afternoon left him with life-altering injuries, Durham Regional Police said.

Officers from West Division were called to Liverpool Road, north of Bayly Street, at about 4:35 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2026.

According to Durham Regional Police, the man was riding a motorcycle southbound on Liverpool Road when he lost control and left the roadway. A pedestrian who had been walking southbound on the same street was struck by debris from the crash.

Pedestrian treated for minor injuries

The motorcyclist suffered serious, life-altering injuries and was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where he remains in serious but stable condition. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries and went to a local hospital.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to investigate. Police say the cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Liverpool Road is a busy north-south route in south Pickering, running past the Pickering Town Centre area toward the lakefront, and the crash occurred during the late-afternoon commute. Drivers in the area may have experienced closures or delays while the Collision Investigation Unit worked the scene.
