A Niagara Falls infrastructure strategy aimed at maintaining essential municipal services and supporting future growth has earned provincial recognition, Niagara Daily News reported.
The city’s asset management planning and financial strategy project received an Award of Distinction at the 2026 Ontario Engineering Project Awards.
The honour was presented to Aspire Consulting Group for its work in partnership with the City of Niagara Falls and Hemson Consulting.
The project addressed a $414-million infrastructure funding gap and produced a 10-year investment plan valued at more than $1 billion, according to the report. The recognition covers both the municipality’s asset management planning and the financial strategy developed alongside it.
City officials say the strategy will help Niagara Falls maintain essential municipal services while supporting future growth. Those are the local priorities identified for the long-term planning work.
The reported billion-dollar figure is the value of the investment plan. The report does not specify how that investment would be funded or which individual infrastructure projects would be included.
