A Niagara Falls man faces animal cruelty and bestiality charges following an investigation into a cat found bound and severely emaciated at a motel residence near Lundy’s Lane and Montrose Road, according to Niagara Regional Police.
Police said a concerned citizen removed the cat from the residence in late September 2026 and took it to an animal hospital. The cat’s condition ultimately required it to be euthanized.
The animal hospital alerted Provincial Animal Welfare Services, which carried out the initial investigation. The provincial agency contacted detectives with the Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake Criminal Investigations Bureau on October 3, 2026.
On October 5, detectives obtained judicial authorization to enter the motel residence. Police said they found materials used to bind the cat.
Peter Krsul, 55, of Niagara Falls, was arrested at the residence. The police release identifies the case as involving animal cruelty and bestiality charges but does not provide an itemized list of offences.
Krsul was held for a bail hearing that took place on October 6, 2026, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines. The release does not state the outcome of that hearing.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Niagara Regional Police Service’s 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009383.
