A new transformer station planned for Lincoln is intended to support Niagara’s continued growth and reliable electricity service, with Niagara Peninsula Energy Incorporated scheduled to break ground on May 22.

Niagara Daily News reported that the Spring Creek Transformer Station project will cost more than $35 million. The investment is aimed at supporting growth across the region while maintaining dependable electricity service in the years ahead.

The May 22 ceremony is planned to mark the start of construction. Provincial and municipal representatives are expected to join industry leaders, project partners and Niagara Peninsula Energy employees for the event.

Expected attendees include MPP Sam Oosterhoff, who serves as associate minister of energy-intensive industries, along with Mayor Sandra Easton and Mayor Jim Diodati.

Niagara Peninsula Energy executives are also expected to attend the groundbreaking.
