Most City of Orillia facilities will shut their doors on Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, as the municipality observes the holiday.
Administrative offices at the Orillia City Centre on Andrew Street South will be closed for the day, according to a notice from the City of Orillia. That means anyone who needs to handle city business in person — permits, payments or general inquiries — will have to wait until Tuesday.
The Waste Diversion Site at 100 Kitchener St. will also be closed, so residents with drop-offs planned for the long weekend should plan around the holiday closure.
Downtown venues are affected as well. The Orillia Opera House at 20 Mississaga St. W. and the Orillia Public Library next door at 36 Mississaga St. W. will both be closed on the holiday Monday, so library patrons will want to hold onto their borrowed items a little longer or renew online.
The city notes that its list covers only holiday-related disruptions. Facilities that are normally closed on Mondays may not be singled out in the notice, so the city is encouraging residents to check individual facility schedules for complete details before heading out.
Residents looking to stay informed about future schedule changes can subscribe to City of Orillia news updates or sign up for the City Bulletin, an email newsletter that summarizes important city news every two weeks.
Normal operations are expected to resume at the affected facilities on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
