A 44-year-old Ottawa man faces two charges after police searched a Centretown business in the 600 block of Somerset Street West during an investigation into alleged illegal tobacco and nicotine sales.
The Ottawa Police Service said its Neighbourhood Resource Team carried out a Criminal Code search warrant at the business on Oct. 1, with assistance from the Tactical Unit.
Police announced the search and charges in an Oct. 2 news release. They reported seizing contraband tobacco and illegal nicotine products but did not provide an itemized list or quantities in the release.
According to police, the man was charged under the Criminal Code with possession of proceeds obtained by crime and possession of unstamped tobacco products. His name was not included in the announcement.
The release identified the location only by its block on Somerset Street West and did not name the business.
Police said the investigation has ended and that no further information was available at the time of the announcement.
