Ottawa police reported 23 arrests during a week-long initiative in Chinatown and Centretown aimed at addressing neighbourhood safety concerns.

According to an Ottawa Police Service news release, Project Fall Out took place from Sept. 21 to 27, 2026. Officers combined visible patrols and proactive enforcement with outreach to residents, business owners and other community members.

The release, issued Oct. 5, announced the arrest total in its headline but did not provide details about the arrests, any charges or the incidents that led to them.

Members of the Community Outreach Response Engagement team, known as CORE, worked alongside the Central Neighbourhood Resource Team on the initiative.

Police said officers spoke with people throughout the week, including along Bank Street and Somerset Street. The service described those interactions as positive.

Police said the operation was part of their approach to pairing targeted enforcement with community-based policing. Its stated goals included responding to neighbourhood concerns, improving public safety and building relationships with local communities.

The release also pointed residents to the service’s Community Safety Data portal, where members of the public can view, download and explore data published by Ottawa police.
