A break-in at Los Cabos restaurant in Whitby is believed to be linked to several other restaurant break-ins in town, and police are asking residents to help identify a suspect.
Durham Regional Police Service said officers responded to a break-and-enter at the restaurant on Friday, September 18, 2026. Police said a male suspect stole cash but did not specify the amount.
Investigators believe the same suspect was responsible for several similar break-and-enters at Whitby restaurants in 2025. Police did not identify those restaurants or provide dates for the earlier incidents.
Police have released a surveillance image of the suspect and are seeking the public’s help identifying him. The image is available on the Durham Regional Police Service website.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or through durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca. Police said tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
