Police are asking for the public's help identifying a woman accused of passing counterfeit currency at an Ajax store and then returning the goods for legitimate cash in Pickering.
The incident took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at around 2:00 p.m., when a woman entered the HomeSense at 125 Harwood Avenue North in Ajax and bought items using fraudulent bills, according to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
A short time later, the same woman allegedly went to the HomeSense at 1355 Kingston Road in Pickering, where she returned the fraudulently purchased items in exchange for genuine currency.
Suspect description
The suspect is described as a woman, approximately 5'2" tall, with black hair. She was wearing all black clothing at the time of the incidents.
