Durham Region’s fourth homicide of 2026 has left a 32-year-old Port Perry man dead and another man charged with second-degree murder, according to Durham Regional Police Service. Police say the incident was isolated and there is no concern for public safety.
Officers from North Division responded to a sudden death call near Water Street and Mary Street in Port Perry at approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026.
They found a man with traumatic injuries, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him as Taylor John Frey, 32, of Port Perry.
The homicide unit took over the investigation and identified a suspect. Police said an arrest was made at approximately 2:30 p.m. that day without incident.
Ryan Bullock, 33, of Port Perry, is charged with second-degree murder. The allegation has not been proven in court.
