Niagara Regional Police believe the same man robbed two convenience stores in Port Colborne and Welland, once with a knife late Saturday night and again early Sunday morning.
The first robbery happened at about 10:31 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at a convenience store in the area of Main Street East and Dolphin Street in Port Colborne, Niagara Regional Police said. An unknown male entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded cash.
He fled westbound on a bicycle with an undisclosed amount of cash and various other items, police said. No one was injured.
Hours later, at about 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, officers from the force's 3 District, which covers Welland and Pelham, were called to a second convenience store robbery, this one in the area of Southworth Street North and Lewis Street in Welland.
In that incident, an unknown male arrived on a bicycle, produced a knife and robbed the store, according to Niagara Regional Police. He then ran off on foot along Lewis Street carrying a handful of stolen items. No injuries were reported.
Investigators link the two robberies
Detectives with the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have taken charge of both cases and believe the same man is responsible for both robberies, police said.
