A second suspect has been arrested in an investigation into vehicle thefts from underground residential parking garages near Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road East in Mississauga.
Peel Regional Police said Gurjeet Singh Virk, 23, of Erin, Ont., turned himself in on July 9 after police issued a warrant for his arrest. He was charged and held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
The arrest is the latest development in Project Tail Light, led by investigators with the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau. Police said the investigation remains open, with officers examining seized evidence and following additional leads to determine whether anyone else was involved.
Thefts and damage reported in May
According to police, investigators identified a series of vehicle thefts and attempted thefts in the area's underground garages in May 2026. Several vehicles were stolen, while others were damaged during attempts to steal them.
Police launched the project to identify those responsible and stop further criminal activity. Investigators identified two suspects using surveillance video, automated licence plate recognition, body-worn camera footage and community outreach, police said.
Officers executed search warrants at residences in Mississauga and Erin. Police said they seized several cellular phones, key fobs, key-programming devices and vehicle-related documents.
Investigators also seized approximately $1,465 in cash that police believe was proceeds of crime. Evidence collected during the searches is still being analyzed.
Earlier arrest announced
Police had previously announced the arrest of a 21-year-old Mississauga man identified as Prince. He was arrested on June 26 and charged with 22 criminal offences in connection with the investigation.
Prince was also held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, according to police.
