A section of the Midland Rotary Waterfront Trail will be closed for maintenance next week, forcing cyclists and pedestrians onto a detour along Aberdeen Boulevard.

The closure runs from Tuesday, October 13, to Friday, October 16, and affects the stretch of trail between Vas Kuchar Memorial Parkette and 711 Aberdeen Boulevard, according to a Town of Midland notice.

Signs will be posted along Aberdeen Boulevard to guide trail users around the closed section. Anyone planning to walk or ride that part of the waterfront next week should budget extra time for the detour.

Detour details

The town is asking cyclists and pedestrians to follow the posted detour signage rather than trying to push through the work zone. The remainder of the trail network remains open.

Information about Midland's full trail network is available at midland.ca/trails, the town said.

Municipal election voting begins same day

The trail closure begins on the same day Midland voters can start casting ballots in the municipal election. Internet and telephone voting opens Tuesday, October 13, at 10 a.m. and runs around the clock until Voting Day closes on October 26 at 8 p.m.

Eligible voters can cast a ballot online or by phone from any location at any time during the voting period, including from home or wherever internet or telephone service is available, the town said.
