Drivers in St. Catharines face a detour this week as Sikorski Avenue is closed from Grantham Avenue to Chopin Road for sewer work, according to a City of St. Catharines notice.
The closure affects the section of Sikorski Avenue between the two intersecting streets, meaning motorists who normally use the road as a through route will need to find an alternate path until the work is complete.
The city did not indicate in the notice how long the closure is expected to last. No timeline for completion of the sewer work was provided.
What residents can do
Residents with questions or concerns about the closure can contact the city by email at CitizensFirst@stcatharines.ca or by phone at 905-688-5600. The city also accepts TTY calls through the operator at 711.
Motorists are advised to plan extra travel time in the area and watch for signage and workers near the construction zone.
Flood impact survey still open
Alongside the traffic notice, the city is continuing to collect information from residents who experienced flooding during the heavy rainstorms that hit the area in July and August 2026.
The city is asking those affected to complete its online Flood Impact Form, which it says will help with data collection that could support potential disaster assistance from the Province of Ontario.
The survey is available online and can be submitted by anyone whose property was damaged by the summer storms.
