Niagara Region residents hoping for a discounted getaway close to home can start making plans: Sleep Cheap Charities Reap returns November 22 to 26, 2026, with reservations opening Thursday, October 22, at 9:00 a.m.
The annual event, which has raised more than $2.7 million for charity since launching in 2004, offers Niagara Region residents reduced rates at participating Niagara Falls hotels, with proceeds donated to local charities and not-for-profit organizations, according to a City of Niagara Falls media release.
Bookings must be made directly with participating hotels, either by phone or through their designated Sleep Cheap booking websites. Organizers are asking residents to hold off on calling or visiting the booking sites until reservations officially open on October 22.
Who can book, and the rules
The promotion is open only to Niagara Region residents aged 21 or older who have a current, valid credit card. Each guest may book up to two one-night stays or a single two-night stay.
The rates include parking, and the city says there are no resort fees or hidden costs. HST and the Municipal Accommodation Tax apply to all rooms.
There is a cancellation window to keep in mind. Bookings can be cancelled without charge within 24 hours of the date and time they were made. Cancellations made 24 hours or more after booking will be charged the full Sleep Cheap room rate.
Charities can apply for proceeds
Charities and not-for-profit organizations can now apply to receive proceeds from this year's event. Applications are due Thursday, November 26, 2026, at noon, with details available at sleepcheapcharitiesreap.com.
The event traces its roots to 2004, when then-councillor Jim Diodati organized a hotel promotion to celebrate Niagara Falls' 100th anniversary and build goodwill between the tourism industry and Niagara Region residents. In 2005, it expanded to add a charitable component, becoming Sleep Cheap Charities Reap.
Beyond the discounted stays, the event gives residents a chance to experience Niagara Falls hotel properties and attractions at a fraction of the regular cost, the release notes.
A list of participating hotels and booking information is available at sleepcheapcharitiesreap.com. Residents with questions can contact Councillor Victor Pietrangelo at vpietrangelo@niagarafalls.ca or the City of Niagara Falls at 905-356-7521.
