Southfields residents are being invited to an afternoon of food, music and family activities later this month, when the Southfields Summer Sizzle takes over John Clarkson Park.
The free community event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, at the park located at 415 Dougall Ave. in Caledon, according to the Caledon Citizen.
The gathering is being organized by Rocky da Realtor and Pureform Movement, and will feature a live DJ, a bouncy castle, face painting, giveaways and a free barbecue for the community.
We hope a lot of the community comes out. It's an opportunity for neighbours to meet each other, get to know one another, and build a stronger sense of community.
That's how co-host Rocky Punia described the event to the Caledon Citizen, adding that children will also be able to take part in colouring activities using specially designed placemats.
A studio anniversary and an open house
The event's other host is Dilpreet Jutla, who runs Pureform Movement, a Pilates fitness studio with two locations — one in Bolton and one in Caledon near Southfields Park.
Jutla is marking the second anniversary of her Southfields studio, and told the Caledon Citizen the event is a way of thanking the community for its support and bringing residents together.
I feel there's a need for events like this to bring people together. It's an opportunity for neighbours to meet, support one another, and build a stronger community.
Alongside the festivities in the park, Pureform Movement will host an open house next door, giving visitors a chance to tour the studio and learn more about what it offers.
Our doors will be open for people to come and see the place and also ask any questions.
Attendees will also have a chance to win special prizes and receive promotional offers during the event, Jutla said.
She added that she plans to reach out to local councillors, noting that everyone is invited to attend.
For Southfields neighbours looking for a low-key way to spend a summer Sunday, the event offers food, music and activities for kids — all free of charge, a short walk from home.
