A taco festival that has been held in Toronto is heading to the Mississauga waterfront this summer.

Taco Fest will run June 27 and 28 at Port Credit Memorial Park, 40 Lakeshore Rd. E., according to listings from the city's tourism agency, Visit Mississauga, and the festival itself. It is the first time the event has expanded to Mississauga.

What's on the menu

Organizers promise more than 150 varieties of tacos over the two days, from traditional Mexican dishes to new versions of the classics. The festival also features chefs, live music, salsa dancers and cocktails, running from day into evening.

Visit Mississauga describes the festival as a celebration of Mexican food and culture. Its listing says prices vary; tickets are sold through the festival's website.

A busy summer for Port Credit

The late-June dates put Taco Fest early in Port Credit's busy summer patio and festival season, steps from the shops and restaurants along Lakeshore Road.

The Mississauga stop is one of several for the festival this year. Taco Fest is also scheduled to return to Toronto in August and to visit Montreal.

Visit Mississauga posted the listing on Feb. 27. Daily hours and ticket prices for the Mississauga dates were not listed on the tourism agency's page.
