Sections of two Pickering residential streets will be closed to through traffic next Wednesday while crews replace backyard hydro poles.

According to a notice from the City of Pickering, Tatra Drive will be shut to through traffic between 1389 and 1401, and Poprad Avenue will be closed between 1366 and 1378.

The closures are scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

What residents can expect

The work involves replacing backyard hydro poles along the two streets. Westmore Poleline & Electric Inc. is carrying out the project.

The city said access for local traffic and emergency services will be maintained throughout the day, so residents who live within the affected stretches will still be able to reach their homes.

Drivers who normally use Tatra Drive or Poprad Avenue as a through route should plan an alternate way around the work area for the day.

Who to contact

Residents with questions about the work itself can contact Trevor Lusted, general foreman with Westmore Poleline & Electric Inc., at 416-791-0243.

Questions about the closure can also go to Ali Jaffry, acting inspector of utility cuts with the City of Pickering's Infrastructure Department, at 289-200-7665.

A service disruption line is available at 1-866-278-9993.

The city has posted a location map with the notice showing the exact extents of the closures.
