Most City of Mississauga services will be shut down or running on reduced hours this Monday, Oct. 12, as the municipality observes Thanksgiving Day.
City administrative offices will be closed for the statutory holiday, along with a number of library, cultural and recreational facilities, according to the City of Mississauga. A full list of affected services and their holiday hours of operation is posted on the City's website.
Residents should also expect slower service while the holiday schedule is in effect. The City says response times to resident inquiries will be limited during the closure period.
Contact centre closed Monday
The City's contact centre will be closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 13. In the days leading up to the holiday, residents can dial 311 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, to speak with a customer service advisor about their inquiries.
For urgent matters that come up on weekends, statutory holidays or overnight, the City advises residents to dial 311 and select option 2 to reach the after-hours dispatch service. Emergencies should go to 911.
Residents can also submit service requests online at any time through the City's website, which is available around the clock.
Check before you go
Because the closure covers a range of facilities — including libraries and recreation sites — the City is encouraging residents to confirm holiday hours before heading out. The Thanksgiving Day schedule lists hours of operation for the affected services on the City's website.
Region of Peel services are also subject to holiday hours, and the City is directing residents to the Region's website for that information.
The changes apply only to Monday. Regular City operations, including the contact centre, are expected to resume on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
