Mississauga is still digging out after Thursday's storm, which dropped 30 to 40 centimetres of snow on parts of the city. The city lifted its city-wide on-street parking ban at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Here are a few ways to get out this weekend.
Friday: Marc-Anthony Sinagoga at Meadowvale Theatre
Comedian Marc-Anthony Sinagoga brings his Family Style Tour to Meadowvale Theatre on Friday, Jan. 16. Visit Mississauga's January listings describe the show as a night of storytelling and laughter. The theatre is at 6315 Montevideo Rd.
Saturday: a business summit
The Emerald’s Summit – Far From Finished runs Saturday, Jan. 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mississauga Convention Centre. Visit Mississauga lists it as a day of learning from experts in the insurance and financial services industry.
Saturday night: Musical Echoes
Caelestia Productions presents Musical Echoes at Meadowvale Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. The concert moves from emotional ballads to high-energy hits. Check the theatre's box office for tickets.
All weekend: skate at a city rink
The city runs outdoor rinks at Mississauga Celebration Square, in front of City Hall, and at Woodhurst Heights Park. Volunteers also look after community rinks in neighbourhood parks; look for the city's 'Ice is Ready' sign before heading out to one. In a notice on Friday, the city reminded residents that going onto frozen ponds, lakes and streams in city parks is not allowed.
Before you go
More snow was possible on Friday, so give yourself extra time on the roads and sidewalks. Visit Mississauga's online events calendar lists more concerts, community events and family activities for the rest of January.
